What a mess!

With each liberal arts class I take, I am more convinced that our American political system is messed up. I feel that each paper I write I keep talking about the United States being a capitalist political system. I think our government is heading towards monarchy - President Bush's decisions are always the last and the fact that every idea has to go through him first pisses me off. One person making all decisions sure sounds like a capitalist country to me. Where is the democratic process in all of this? Is it enough that we are only allowed to speak our ideas without seeing any further action? Why is that only ONE MAN can approve of it. Yes, there has to be a whole thing of checks and balance, but I don't see that being practiced today. Do you? On another note, my teacher told me deducted 3 point from a quiz where I could have had a 100% because I said the United States is an example of modern monarchy. Who does that! I don't care if you went to Boston College, fuck that!

Now I am starting to see a better picture of why President-Elect, Obama, won. He is in the process of restoring a democracy, a belief in the American people AND the American political system. Yeah I am late, but it honestly just "clicked," I am slowly getting it all. Before you know it, I will be asked to be part of someone's Presidential cabinet... haha or not!

Who has heard of the "decolonizing of the mind?" It is super interesting. Let's have a discussion. It has mainly to do with Native/Aboriginal peoples. It is when the USA takes over another culture's land, then convinces them that if they do not follow the American system then they're culture will cease to exist.
I find it amazing the culture and lifestyle of the Native Hawaiians and their relationship with the land. To understand the Hawaiian culture, one must malama 'aina and aloha 'aina (to take care of the land and to love the land). And the issue of Native Hawaiians is NOT the same as the Native American Indians because Native Hawaiians only got an apology, whereas, the Native American Indians got their land back AND are recognized as Native peoples. Yeah I thought it was the same until my teacher scolded me that it is not.

Um.. the weather here is just as confusing as I am. It will rain in the morning for an hour, then stop .. be sunny, then some rain, some strong rain.. a rainbow then gets super windy. I was at the bus stop and leaves just attacked me, it reminded me of what happened in Wai'anae and the sand. Nasty! And what sucks is that I cannot bundle up because it is humid as heck, with an exeption of todays strong winds. Maybe it's the Santa Ana's that had left southern California, haha NOT! I know I probably shouldn't be complaining about the weather here because if I was still in Cali, the air would have triggered my asthma then I would be stuck at home.
